Summary

After the disintegration of former Yugoslavia, the existing network of repeat stations on the territory of Serbia and Montenegro has been rearranged and its present appearance is shown in the figure below. There are 20 measuring sites with average distance of 150 km. The last survey was carried out in 1994. Due to actual political and economic situation the usual repeat interval of 3-5 years has to be prolonged. The shortage of adequate funding, impossibility to properly service instruments or to buy new ones, resulted with the fact that we were unable to repeat another survey after 1994. At the moment, our field-work instrumentation, which is approximately 15 years old, consists of: EDA's FM-100C three-component (X, Y, Z) variometer, proton magnetometer GSM-10 of ±0.2 nT absolute accuracy and declination-inclination meter with non-magnetic ZEISS theodolite THEO 010B and ELSEC sensors. Last year we managed to but DUNMARK variometer for Observatory in attempt to fulfill INTERMAGNET standards. Currently, the status of our institution, including geomagnetic observatory Grocka (GCK), is not yet defined and therefore its existence and future is uncertain.
